Like all other programs offered at ShaoLin Center, our Yoga is focused on helping individuals live a longer, healthier, happier life. In fact, the first thing a student learns is how to suspend judgment. While stretching and strengthening are always key pieces of the practice, so is creating an opportunity to establish a positive relationship with the entire self: physical, emotional, intellectual, spiritual.
In Hatha and Yin Yoga, the poses become a moving meditation. Both ask students to simply be present on the mat... to be mindful and in the moment. There, they can then learn techniques that calm the mind, sync with the breath, and result in better health and balance.
Classes are structured in a group, but the emphasis is on the individual. While one practitioner may exhibit great flexibility, another may not be able to reach as far. As long as they are structurally aligned, maintain proper breathing, and can "feel" themselves progressing, then both have achieved the true union that is Yoga.
